Young Eagles

Young Eagle Rallies are held on the second Saturdays of June and September at the EAA Chapter 292 Hangar located on the Independence State Airport.

These exciting and fun filled rallies are an opportunity for young people between the ages of eight (8) and seventeen (17) to experience flight.

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people their first flight in a light or amateur-build aircraft.  These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA Chapter 292 members.

How to Participate

The flights are offered on a first-come first-served basis with registration beginning at 8:30 AM. Parents must accompany the young people to complete the registration form. Before taking to the air, Rally participants are provided with a short introduction on how airplanes fly, a chance to fly a simulator and a preflight an aircraft on the ground. Each flight is around 20 minutes and provides a great opportunity to experience first-hand the beautiful Willamette Valley. Lastly a Young Eagle will receive a certificate and photograph documenting their Young Eagle flight.
