EAA Chapter 292 periodically awards scholarships for education and learning to fly. The Chapter also makes grants to young people pursuing an education in an aviation and aerospace related field. The scholarships and grants are competitive and require an application.
EAA Air Academy
This annual, summertime event hosts hundreds and thousands of visitors and over thirty thousand aircraft in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. As part of AirVenture, a two week Air Academy is held to familiarize a limited number of high school aged participants with the world of sport aviation and aerospace. Participants spend time learning how to run a regional airport, operate a regional air carrier operation, build an aircraft in a production environment, study avionic and advanced navigation systems and spend time networking with peers and professionals. From the summer cadre of participants, several aerospace firms (Socata-Dehar, Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and others) select individuals and invite them to participate in summer internship programs lasting up to a month. Several of these firms have international locations and the internships take the participants to Europe.
